Hi all – I got to spend the day home alone with Sally, my first time since last Friday when she was becoming dehydrated and had to take her into Sloan Kettering for the entire weekend. She was very clingy most of the day, would cry any time I left her side except for the nap she took early on (which allowed me to get my work done thankfully). She also wouldn’t drink much, which again started to make me nervous that this would be a repeat of last week. Luckily in the late afternoon, she made a big poop and totally cheered up, chugging a bottle after that. Apparently her tummy was just bothering her all day, a big relief.

She was also totally wired all afternoon, refusing to nap. We had to stop giving her steroids for a bit, which may be affecting her system. She would grind her teeth, sit straight up in a reclining chair for long periods, grab and massage my arm and slap my chest. It was like somebody gave her an espresso. Ten of them. No, I didn’t give her caffeine. I played with her this evening to hopefully tucker her out so she could sleep tonight. I really do cherish these one on one days with her, even if she is clingy, which isn’t such a bad thing for a doting father.

A neat moment came in late afternoon when the boys got home from a birthday party. I was sitting on the bed with Sally when William came in and said he wanted to see her. I picked him up and he sat down next to her and just goofed around. The two of them have a unique bond, my phone is filled with pictures over the last several months of the two of them sitting, laying and just hanging out together. I was taking pictures and then switched to video, wanting to grab the moment. As soon as I did that, William leaned in and gave her kisses and a hug. Nicole said he did the same yesterday. Here is the video, it totally looks staged (he was playing with the $5 somebody sent him in the mail, it wasn’t a bribe smart alecs) but I promise was not. Trust me, I would have cleaned up if I was going to plan this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENs-OZa3u9Y

Please keep Sally in your thoughts and prayers. Oh, and this arrived today, thanks sis, no turning back. Luckily one of my triathlon club friends has already offered to race in one with me, and several of the members are supporting us by wearing one as spectators or donating. Between this and everything else people are doing to help, where would we be without our friends?

God help me.

God help me.

Matt
