The Highs

Sally Rings Sally Standing

Hi all – Sally is doing awesome, like awesome awesome. She was extremely playful and happy all day, tons of energy. She even stood with her godmother, Vittoria, for a long time and played at her little light & sound table. She would always scream when trying before, so it shows that she is still advancing despite the treatment. Take that chemo!

I was thinking about how fun she was today, then realized that this is how she always was before all this started, which brought a mixture of happiness and sadness. Starting Monday they’ll need to redeliver the meds that knock her system back down which will likely bring her mood & energy down with it. These highs and lows are anticipated, and are a frustration shared by all the parents who go through this with their children.  It’s a necessary evil, and know its what’s going to cure her, but it still stinks and I don’t have to like it.

My sister Cindy is here again this weekend, which allowed me to attack the apartment, do laundry and organize things in anticipation for Nicole and I taking turns at the hospital all week. It also allows us to spend tomorrow just being a normal family for awhile, which we’re all looking forward to.

For those who are asking, tomorrow’s triathlon is at Midland Beach in Staten Island at 8am. It’s a sprint distance so won’t be more than 2 hours. People have already contributed $1,000 to seeing me do it in a yellow tutu! The support for Sally continues to amaze us.

Please keep Sally in your thoughts and prayers.

Matt

Good luck in the morning. Can’t wait to see you in that yellow tutu…how “familiar” of me…sorry. Feel like I’m part of your group. I look foward to the days I know will be good for Sally ..therefore good for all!!! And dread-for you- the bad days. I don’t have to tell you how in the end you’ll be grateful for what they did on the bad days, but that doesn’t make it easier at the time!Have fun …..run like the wind……………………………………………..
