Another Reaction

Eating an Italian biscuit from Grandma Sally.

Hi all – as I write this Sally is having another allergic reaction and rubbing her face furiously. They can’t give her the medicine that stopped it last time for another hour as she had received another dose earlier. So we’re just sitting here waiting, and can’t tell you how annoyed & irritated I am that she has to be uncomfortable right now and there’s nothing I can do to comfort her. They just tried giving her a little Benadryl to hopefully take the edge off. I know there’s nothing else they can do, but doesn’t prevent me from being annoyed.

Doctors tried a new painkiller today, which totally brought Sally to life. She was very playful and ate a ton following, unlike morphine which didn’t improve her mood. Until this reaction, I was going to title this update A T9tally Different Baby, which is what Nicole said about her this afternoon. Now we have to figure out what is causing these reactions, as it obviously wasn’t the morphine (which Nicole and I called) and not the steroids as she ended those yesterday.

When I arrived this evening, Sally was being held by the nurses who wanted to snuggle her before they left. When Sally saw me, she let out an audible happy yelp, and literally jumped up out of the nurses lap. She then started crying until I came and took her. She apparently really missed her Daddy. Lord knows I missed her and that reaction to seeing me was…well…awesome. She also said “hi” and waved to me when I returned from washing her dishes earlier. It’s amazing how she can lift my mood in an instant.

Oh, and Nicole said I had to mention that she said “ma-ma” today if I was going to mention my story. Happy honey?

So it was mostly a great day, until now. Writing this with Sally pressed up against me killed some of that time we had to wait, now I’ll probably take her for a walk around the floor.

Hmm…she just stopped rubbing, maybe the Benadryl worked. Alright, gonna send this off and see if she wants to sleep.

Please keep Sally in your thoughts and prayers.

Matt

Rest easy, Sweet Sally. I hope you can figure out what this is. The nurses don’t wear any perfumes or lotions, right?
In our thoughts and prayers, everyday! xoxo

Just a random thought – ask the nurses or docs if her itchiness could be an allergic reaction to her platelet transfusion? It can happen sometimes – more often with plasma related products. Good luck! With hope and love, Margaret Martin

Well, I believe it when you say she practically jumps out of others arms when she see’s you or Nicole seeing she has done that with me numerous times when holding her…..its really sweet though and cant wait to hear the “ma-ma” from her. Hope she can come home soon!!! I miss her so much….see you tomorrow.
