Bracelet

Hi all – While I wrote last night’s update, Sally was sleeping in the crib next to me, and could see a lot of movement. She wasn’t sleeping peacefully. Prior to that she was rubbing her eyes constantly, which usually just signals that she’s tired. It was a bit excessive, so did give the nurse a heads up.

Shortly after sending the update, just after 10pm, Sally woke up and couldn’t stop rubbing her eyes and face and was clearly uncomfortable. I let the nurse know and the doctors decided to give her some Benadryl, which everybody thought would relieve the symptoms and help her sleep. Didn’t work, and Sally’s blood pressure was sky high. So they waited awhile and decided to try another dose. Again, didn’t work. This is all over a couple hours where finally around 2am, they gave her a dose of an alternative to Benadryl. This helped and allowed Sally to fall asleep around 3am. Doctors think Sally had a reaction to the large dose of morphine she received in an effort to lower her blood pressure earlier that evening. Not sure Nicole and I buy that as she’s been using morphine for two months, but for now they’ve taken her off of it. Here’s a quick video of Sally I took in the middle of the night to have for our doctors that shows the discomfort she was in, she rubbed her eyes like this for several hours straight, forgive me for not pulling her shirt down over that cute belly first: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-gDvZT5FyQ

Nicole says Sally is a little better today, still not smiling but a bit more engaged. Her face has also cleared up from the reaction she had last night. She did send the picture above of Sally in music therapy today. She loves to shake that red egg. We also received bracelets for Sally, they’re yellow to represent Sally Sunshine with purple writing for the color she wears most. We’ll have them on sale at the fundraiser next month.

Oh, and wanted to try re-attaching the photo of Scarlett and her family from yesterday. For some reason it didn’t work in the update last night. Sometimes I have to type these out on my phone at the hospital, which is a lot harder than doing on a laptop.

Please keep Sally in your thoughts and prayers.

Matt

Hi Matt, Nicole & precious Sweet Sally Sunshine and boys:

I live in St Louis, MO and I have been following you and your family (Lauren Murphy), for several weeks now. You have a beautiful family and I pray for you all.
I love the pictures that you post and wonder how in the heck you can get any rest at the hospital as tall as you are. Those chair beds are not comfortable!

How can those of us who live out of town, how can we can get a Sweet Sally Sunshine bracelet. I would like to wear one in support.

You do a great job on this website! Keep up your great attitude!

    Godspeed

    Dorothy

Hi matt & nicole: Reading your updates on Sally & praying the alternative to benedryl will work miracles for Sally with side effects from morphine & chemo. Matt, I pray writing this journal provides strength to you (& nicole) as well as helps others better understand what you must be going through. I also pray you can feel my arms reaching out to you in the biggest hug possible. Our love & prayers are with each of you. Love to each of you, kent & carol

    Dear Matt and Nicole,

We are praying for Sally and your family every night. My best friend is 0- and can donate either blood or platelets. Are you still in need of either at this time?

Also, can you please private message me at wandp3@aol.com with your address so that I can send you something?

    May God Bless you all.

    Love,
    Peggy Schleimer

I’m in Scotland and heard of your little girl through a colleague at work whose daughter lives in New York. I just want you to know that everyone at my church is praying for your little girl – she is now on our prayer list every day and week- and we have passed her details on yo others too. I will keep everyone at church up to date on your daughter’s progress. My blessings to your whole family.
