Sally getting a front row jumper seat for William’s bath this evening, she loves hanging out her brothers.

Hi all – Obviously we’ve taken a few days off from the blog, Sally has been doing well so there hasn’t been much to update. She has been home since last week, and returns to Memorial Sloan Kettering tomorrow.

Saturday night Nicole and I got out for a bit, we had a couple beers at a new beer garden in the neighborhood. It was nice to be out like a normal couple. We got a text from my sister as we were walking home saying the Sally was up crying. We got home and put her to bed, but apparently she stayed mad at us as she then refused to sleep in her room for the next 24 hours. Luckily, she got over it and is back in her own room.

The rest of the week has been relatively quiet, Sally has some teeth coming in (9 and 10 according to Nicole, halfway there)  so has been a bit fussy at times, but overall in good spirits most of the time. She even got to go with Mommy on William’s school field trip today to a local firehouse. Nicole had her in the stroller with the plastic cover on, she sent me a picture of our little bubble girl. Thomas brought Ducky, a stuffed animal the hospital gave him over the summer that “has cancer”, to school today for show and tell so he could explain Sally’s Leukemia to his new classmates.

William loved the firehouse, regardless of how excited he looks in this photo (bottom right)

Tomorrow, Sally gets her scheduled chemo. She also starts seven days of high dosage steroids, which Nicole and I have been dreading. These amp her up and she has too much energy, making it hard for her to sleep and overall more needy. She also had some strange reactions last time she was on them while in-patient, hopefully being home this time will make it more manageable, I guess we’ll find out.

Please keep Sally in your thoughts and prayers.

Matt

Each time I read your blog it reminds me of the strength a parent has for his/ her children. Not only are you channeling that strength to your beautiful Sally, you are an inspiration and wonderful example for your boys.
My daughter-in-law is a pediatric cancer survivor (leukemia)…..enough said.
    Continued prayers and good wishes,
    Marie
