Sally In the News

Sally’s blood transfusion form, the pink tag tells us the blood was donated directly to her.

Hi all – Sally had a good day at Sloan-Kettering. She received her scheduled spinal tap, chemo injection, and started on her steroids. I actually just ran out to the store to get some Benadryl in case Sally can’t sleep from the steroids, which the doctors used in the hospital on night’s where she was restless. We could already see an increase in her energy this evening after only one dose, and she’ll be getting three doses daily for the next seven days. Sally also received a red blood transfusion, which was also expected as we knew her counts would drop from the treatment.

Nicole and I are still in paranoia mode, where we over analyze everything. Dr. Steinherz today out of nowhere asked Nicole if she remembered if Thomas or William’s marrow was a match for Sally, which it isn’t. She asked him why he was asking, but he said her marrow is great right now and there was nothing to worry about. And you wonder why we have paranoia.

Sally is scheduled to be home until next Thursday, when she returns for more chemotherapy. Our family has a very busy weekend ahead. Nicole is working both Saturday and Sunday, and my sister is unavailable to come. The boys have soccer on Saturday morning, then the Ragamuffin Parade, and then we all go to the fundraiser. It will be a long but fun day. Sunday is the big street festival up the block, which is always a bit chaotic around here.

There were two fantastic articles about Sally published online today, please give them a read:

Brooklyn Eagle Article

Home Reporter Article – posted on Facebook earlier

Both are a different, but each are really great. Please keep Sally in your thoughts and prayers.
