Hi all – Sally got some special surprise visitors today, my brother and mom dropped off the boys at the hospital so Nicole and I could get out and spend some time with them. Since we don’t as of yet have a new roommate, and Sally has been here for a week and could be here awhile longer, the doctors let Thomas and William come visit her for a few minutes. William was especially happy to see his buddy, snuggling her and giving Sally lots of kisses.
My sister Cindy was here and offered to watch Sally so we could take the boys to the playground and out for lunch/frozen yogurt. As soon as we sat down Thomas said, “Boy, it would be nice if Sally could be here, she could sit right there in that empty seat.” Amen Thomas, amen.
Sally is good today, Nicole said she ate well and slept in late this morning. Her platelets have dropped every day so imagine she’ll need a transfusion of those soon. We’re a bit confused about her blood work as her neutrophils, the virus fighting WBCs, have already begun to come back. This wasn’t expected for at least 1-2 more weeks so Nicole and I aren’t sure if that’s a good thing or bad thing. It’s a question we’ll have to ask our Leukemia doctors tomorrow as they haven’t been on the floor all weekend and the doctor on rounds today isn’t a Leukemia specialist. For me personally, anything unexpected makes me uneasy, but nobody here seems concerned and could just be that her marrow is working great to create the blood cells she needs. So I’m going to do my best to not worry about it, instead, I just ordered a milkshake with supper to drown out my nerves.
Please keep Sally in your thoughts and prayers.
Matt
