Hi all – I went back and re-read what I posted last night…yeesh, holy mess. I literally fell asleep a couple times while writing it, I’d wake up and see a long line of whatever letter my finger was resting on when I nodded off. Looks like I forgot to delete one of them, sorry!

Nicole is packing Sally up to leave MSK as I type this, anxious to get out of there. This has been a much harder week than expected, especially on Nicole who has spent almost the entire week at the hospital. Luckily, she is done with MSK until Monday so can just be home and focus on Sally and the boys for a couple days. The boys miss her, William was up in the middle of the night, and Thomas had a rough day at school.

We did receive some great news today, Sally’s bone marrow results came back and she remains in remission! Again, Nicole and I will have to go through this gut-wrenching anticipation every month for the foreseeable future. Sally did receive a dose of monthly chemo today as well. The big job this weekend is getting Sally used to the new feeding tube. She has thrown up a couple times as Nicole has worked to strike the right balance of fluids and food Sally is receiving. Some of this may be caused by reflux as well.

I didn’t have any pictures from today, so posted two courtesy of Scarlett’s website (www.talesfromthesea.com pass: Ryan). There’s a couple more on there from Sally’s birthday party, but love these two. The other girl is Cami, her mom is Thomas’ art teacher and dad is an owner of some local restaurants. She just went through a successful bone marrow transplant while Sally was starting chemo and is doing amazing, her immune system is still rebuilding hence the mask. Us three sets of parents are all connected outside of MSK but never met prior to this. It’s sad cancer is what brought us together, but am so thankful for their friendship and support.

This weekend is very busy for the Kabels. On Saturday, we have Sally’s fundraiser at McFadden’s. Nicole and I know a ton of people coming so will likely be like the bride and groom at a wedding and not have enough time to talk to everybody as we like, but are really looking forward to a night out which we never get. We’ll both be there thanks to our previous sitter Bozena watching Sally and the boys. Tickets can also be purchased at the door, there will be raffles and a silent auction, somebody will be going home with a big screen 3D TV! Event details can be found here: http://news.blazeletter.com/previewnewsletter.php?id=6951&rnd=V3H8q

On Sunday there will be a raffle fundraiser at McFadden’s during the Bills game at 1pm as well, hoping Thomas and I can attend that one. Most of all, looking forward to some much needed family time together before we hit the reset button and go through another week of intense treatment starting on Monday.

Please keep Sally in your thoughts and prayers.

Matt

Yaaaaay! I hope you guys have a great weekend! The Bills are playing my Panthers on Sunday, yippeee!!! I have to say that I am pulling for the Panthers (even though I will always be a Bills fan at heart) once a Bills fan always a Bills fan. I was hoping to have my Sweet Sally Sunshine t-shirt by then so I could represent for my girl, but it hasn’t come yet :(… I hope this weekend is a big hit for you guys!!! Sending lots of thoughts as always!

Yay Sally that’s a great B-day present 🙂 and best news I’ve heard today <3 still in remission. Thank you Lord. Praying that you have a successful fundraiser and a wonderful much needed family time together. Remember Sally has a teensy, tiny tummy so feed her more often but in smaller portions and hopefully that eases her tummy aches and throwing up.

Rough week but I hope that the news about remission helps. Don’t worry about your writing. I’m amazed at how you can do it at all.
Sorry I have to miss the event on Saturday. I forgot about a previous event in Brentwood that I have to attend. Enjoy every moment – and take a taxi home!
Know that I’ll be thinking about all of you and keeping you in my prayers.
